The Contribution of people in pollution control:
There are two types of pollution-Natural Pollution and Pollution by Human Beings. Natural pollution is created due to natural factors. Especially, local environment is polluted by the natural factors like Heavy rain, Drought, Snow-rain, Cyclones, Thundering, Fire in Forest, Volcanoes and through its air and heat. Human factors are responsible for pollution, for pollution by Human Beings. Pollution by Human Beings emerges due to scientific inventions, industrialization and use of technology by men. The man is in the root of the whole world’s pollution. Pollutions like air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution, heat pollution, sea pollution etc… are emerged by dangerous experiments, urbanization, cultural programs and religious celebrations. We are not getting pure air, pure water and moreover no area of land is free from the pollution. The man is responsible for that. As Pollution is the dangerous problem .The government has tried a lot to control it by making some laws from the very day when our constitution was implemented but it is responsibility of the public to follow them. It is human beings responsibility to keep pollution under control because human beings are responsible for that. If the each citizen of India does the responsibility as like the moral duty, pollution can be controlled. If man can contribute in following steps, it can be controlled.
(A) Population Control:
The rapid increase in population is responsible for pollution. The use of new invention and Science and technology is increased to fulfill the needs of increasing population and as a result pollution is being increasing population and so problem like dist and rowdiness are
emerged and so pollution emerges. The burden of increasing population is increasing on the earth and natural resources. If we can control this it will be easy to control pollution. The rate of population is below one in so many countries of the world. If we apply the
slogan “Small Family, Happy Family.” We can control Pollution.
(B) Tree Plantation:
Trees play a vital role in controlling pollution human beings are cutting trees just to fulfill their needs for Fuel, for building materials etc.
We get pure air due to trees. The land gets wet, cool air and shadow. Trees stop the erosion of land. We get good flowers for decoration, food, medicines and fuel from trees. The most important benefit of trees is that they absorb CO2 from the air and give O2
which play apt role in controlling pollution. So it is good for everyone to look after the trees. In every village, trees must be planted in useless land and if proper care isgiven to them, we can control the increasing pollution.
(C) Use of Natural Manure:
Agricultural production is must to fulfill the basic needs of increasing population and that’s why too much chemical fertilizer is being used for more production. There are more Nitrates in fertilizer having Nitrogen which gives birth to the dangerous diseases. The more use of chemical fertilizer kills earthworms. So, to control pollution, we should use the fertilizer having Nitrogen with care. Instead of these chemical fertilizers if we use natural manure or compost manure, the land will be fertile andproduction can be increased. It helps in controlling pollution.
(D) To Stop Water Pollution:
There is a saying, “water is life.” Water has the most important place in the man’s basic needs. There is 75% water on the earth but just half of it is useful. The man uses too much water from morning to evening. Water pollution is increased because of the much use of water in agricultural development, industrialization and urbanization. Human beings can contribute more in preventing water pollution as it is polluted by the human beings. Every factory owner should empty the dirty water of the factory to pond, river or sea after making it pollution free. The holy river Ganga is polluted by the human beings by emptying polluted water of factories and by throwing garbage for the sake of performing some religious rituals. Having established “the Ganga Raksha Manch” to make the river Ganga pollution free
by the revered Ramdevaji Baba , every Indian should change the mentality of performing rituals at the riverGanga, they should try to make it pollution free by gathering hands. During the month of Shravana ‘Dashama Vrat’ and during the month of ‘Bhadra’ ‘the Lord Ganesha festival’, we dissolute the idols of deities in either pond or river. Now days these idols are made from Plaster of Paris which don’t melt in water soon. Moreover, the different chemical colours of the idols mix with the water and become harmful for aquatic animals. If human beings or animals drink this water, they may welcome dangerous diseases. If these idols are made from clay and if the dissolution of them is made at public place in a large vessel full of water; after some time, the idols will melt with water and that water can be used for our garden plants. This will stop water pollution at some extent.
(E) Increase the Use of Either Cloth or Paper Bags:
Now days, polythene is used for the packing of vegetables to other things. These packing bags are thrown as garbage which is used as food by animals like cows, goats etc… which becomes the cause of their death. If it is buried in the land, it can’t melt with the clay. If it is burnt, it will release so many poisonous gases harm to human beings. We should completely stop the use of polythene and use eithercloth or paper bag instead to prevent pollution.
(F) To stop Filth Completely:
Even today we are habituated to spread filth in public. In villages most of the people use open space as lavatory. Besides, people are throwing garbage of their houses, offices, shops and dispensaries anywhere whichspreads pollution and harms to the health of human
beings. People must be aware and be habituated forcleanliness to prevent pollution. We must throw garbage in dust bins.
(G) To Deteriorate Noise Pollution:
When the density of the voice goes beyond, it becomes noise. The strong noise causes physical and mental illness. Noise comes mostly from industries, machines, transportation Garba in Navaratri, cracking fire-works in Diwali, loudspeaker in performing Namaz etc…The inventor of tuberculoses’ insects and Nobel Prize winner in 1905 Robert Karke has said, “ The merciless noise will be proved the big foe of human health and a day will come when man will have to protest for noise.” The man is creating too much noise in his own house which harms neighbors. So the man and society have to be aware for deteriorating noise pollution by applying some steps.
(H) To Use Alternate Sources of Energy:
Indian has the great indoor pollution in the world. Even today most of the villagers in India are using wood and dung cakes for cooking which cause harm to health of their family members. The people who are keeping animals must make Gobar Gas Plant in villages to prevent pollution. The slurry which comes out of G.G.P. should be used as manure. The subsidy for G.G.P. is available from the government. In villages, those who are not having animals should use smokeless stoves which require less wood and produce less smoke soas to down pollution. Besides, we can control it by using Solar Energy System and wind energy.
(I) Make Your Home Pollution Free:
Today, our home is not safe from pollution. We are using gadgets and beauty make up materials in our homes like hair spray, nail polish, in scent sticks or liquids for mosquito killing are harmful to the health of family members. There are houses without ventilation. We should use mosquito net, windows and ventilation for air passing in houses.
Pollution is not going to be removed by giving slogans like, “Stop Pollution”, “Small Family, happy Family”, “Clean Villages” etc…It is necessary to implement them. Education related environment and awareness in each and every field is important. Country is polluted because man spreads pollution. Hence, public’s role is important in controlling pollution. Seasons are playing Hide and Sick with man. Winter is becoming colder and summer is becoming hotter. Ecologists are foretelling about global warming and snow of Tundra region is melting rapidly and the end of the world. So the time has come to awake about pollution. Whatever has happened so far has happened but let’s start a new beginning now onwards and start actions for controlling pollution. If the public move their steps back for controlling pollution, the statement given by Plane Cionxe at Grodland in 1995 with a heavy heart will become true. “When the last tree on the earth will be cut, when the last river will dry, when the stream flowing with jingling will be polluted, when the last fish will be trapped in the net, can only then human beingsunderstand that money is not everything?”
Throughout the world, ocean pollution has become as massive a problem as air pollution—possibly even greater. Huge areas in the Gulf of Mexico have literally become "dead zones" which are areas completely devoid of marine life, due to contaminated urban runoff. On a neighborhood level, storm drain pollution can create unhealthy conditions for residents such as the risk of disease, foul odors, not to mention unsightly neighborhoods. But the solution is so easy! By following the simple steps below, you can greatly reduce the amount of harmful pollutants that may be entering our waterways.
Use Environmentally Safe Products: Many pesticides have safe, chemically-free organic alternatives. By using non-toxic methods, you reduce the amount of dangerous chemicals that flows off of lawns and into storm drains.
Recycle Your Used Motor Oil and Filters: Used motor oil is extremely toxic to the environment if disposed improperly and there are literally hundreds of collection centers located throughout the city.
Compost Yard Trimmings: Dispose of yard clippings and waste in a compost bin or in your City issued green container. You can also log on to the City's Smart-Gardening web site for more information.
Recycle Everything You Can!: Landfill space (where all our trash goes) is rapidly filling up and we can greatly reduce the need for having to find precious, open land for additional capacity. Open land can be better suited for parks or natural habitat for wildlife and much of what we throw away can easily be recycled!
